'Waynestock' Charity Concert to Star Blues Prodigy Quinn Sullivan

Wayne of Waynestock
The proceeds support The Wayne Ferreira Benefit Fund. Ferreira, a talented musician and painter from Rochester, MA, has been living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis since 2001. Ferreira was able to work until last winter when the disease has progressed to the point where he is unable to work or build the financial reserve required for his post double-lung transplant surgical recovery. Without the $60,000 needed to secure the treatment, he will be rejected as a candidate for the transplant and be denied his only hope of recovery.
Waynestock covers all genres of music and has attracted some notable names. Two hundred of the region’s best musicians will be performing blues, jazz, soul, classic rock, rockabilly, country, indie rock, r&b, top 40, folk and acoustic music, and so much more.

Called a blues prodigy by Rolling Stone magazine, 14-year-old Quinn Sullivan has impressed one of the all-time greats, Buddy Guy, and Sullivan now sits in regularly with him at some of the blues legend's high-profile gigs. In April, the teenage wizard performed at the Crossroads Guitar Festival where he joined the likes of Eric Clapton and Robbie Robertson on stage.
Armsted Christian, an acclaimed vocalist and multi-instrumentalist will also be performing. Armsted has pulmonary sarcoidosis, which affect his lungs, and has caused severe scaring of lung tissue, restricting his breathing. He is currently a bilateral lung transplant candidate, and is awaiting his opportunity to receive this much-needed surgery. He has been a professor at Berklee College since 1999 .
"Wayne has been my friend and teacher for over 40 years," says Waynestock chair Angela Grace. "What amazes me most is his ability to jump in and help when times get tough. He's been the rock, the person I could always lean on. When I saw how much this illness had debilitated him in January my heart and soul told me it was time to give back! Waynestock 2013 will be a day of joy, renewal, fun, raising big dollars for his post-surgical recovery, and most of all HOPE for this incredible man. His ORRHS classmates, clients, friends and fellow musicians are all stepping forward as we all love this man!"
Ferreira: nothing but gratitude
For Ferreira, all of the outpouring is overwhelming. “I have done so many benefits through the years but never expected to need a hand myself. I am actually more than a little surprised that all these musicians would turn out just to give me a hand. I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am to Angela for making this happen and to all of my classmates, friends and my wonderful girlfriend who are here in so many ways.”
Those who can't make it to the party in person can still be there in spirit. Support the cause by donating to “The Wayne Ferreira Benefit Fund” or volunteering for the day of the event. Log on to www.wayneferreirabenefit.com/
