"Armed and Suicidal Man" Found Deceased in Cranston

Cranston Police responded to a report of an "armed and suicidal" man on Saturday.

On Saturday evening, police released released the following statement:

"At 1:12 PM this afternoon, the Cranston Police Dispatch Center received a call that a suicidal male was inside 1097 Pontiac Avenue and in possession of a firearm. Responding Officers formed a perimeter and alerted neighboring residents.

Attempts to establish communication with the individual were unsuccessful.

At approximately 4:00 pm, Officers made entry into the second-floor apartment and found the forty-four-year-old male deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
