Infante-Green
Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green is denying rumors that she is leaving Rhode Island.

She was appointed commissioner in March of 2019 and has been in the eye of the proverbial storm since coming to Rhode Island.

Rhode Island schools are the worst-ranked in New England and, yet, one of the costly systems.

This week, Infante-Green addressed rumors of an impending departure.

"Rhode Island, I am here to stay.  Can’t get rid of me that easily. LOL. While I do have some great supporters back in New York State, no one has offered me a job back there. NYSED has a process, and I am not part of that process. I am committed to the work I am doing. RI strong," tweeted Infante-Green.

GoLocal’s Woman of the Year has been front and center in one of the biggest stories locally — and nationally.

Angélica Infante-Green, who had been a Deputy Commissioner in the New York State Education Department's Office, was immediately thrust in the spotlight after Governor Gina Raimondo tapped her to be Rhode Island’s latest Commissioner of Education in March.
