Jes Staley stepped down as chief executive of Barclays PLC under pressure from British regulators about how he characterized his relationship with the convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.

He is just one of a number of major business global business leaders who have been forced out of their leadership positions.

Staley joins billionaire financier Apollo Global’s CEO Leon Black and Limited Brands CEO Les Wexner in being forced out for their connections to Epstein.

In Rhode Island, global business consultant and former head of the Clinton Health Access Initiative Ira Magaziner has repeatedly refused to answer questions about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. She is presently awaiting trial for her role in the abuse of underage girls.

Epstein committed suicide in August of 2019.

In 2019, GoLocal unveiled through the review of Epstein’s flight logs that Magaziner along with former President Bill Clinton repeatedly flew with Epstein and Maxwell.

According to the Wall Street Journal, "Barclays said U.K. regulators had made preliminary conclusions in its long-running investigation into what Mr. Staley told the bank about his association with Mr. Epstein and what it told regulators about the relationship.

Maxwell is awaiting federal trail
The bank said the investigation didn’t find evidence that 'Mr. Staley saw, or was aware of, any of Mr. Epstein’s alleged crimes' and said Mr. Staley was planning to contest the conclusions made by regulators."

Over the past two years, GoLocal has asked Magaziner repeatedly to answer questions about his travel and relationship with Epstein and Maxwell. Magaziner is one of about 1,700 names in Epstein's "Black Book."

According to the WSJ, Barclays "disclosed the existence of the [UK's Financial Conduct Authority] FCA investigation in February 2020. At the time, Mr. Staley said of Mr. Epstein: 'I thought I knew him well and I didn’t...For sure, with hindsight, with what we all know now, I deeply regret having had any relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.' In March 2020, The Wall Street Journal reported that the FCA was examining visits by Mr. Staley to Mr. Epstein’s private Caribbean island as part of the probe."

Ira Magaziner is the father of Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner.
