Magaziner Blocks GoLocal's Access After Unveiling Father’s Flights with Sex Abuser Jeffrey Epstein

A GoLocal investigation first published in August of 2019 unveiled that Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner’s father —Ira Magaziner — had repeatedly traveled globally with convicted sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

The senior Magaziner’s personal information —private phone number and email appeared in Epstein’s “Blackbook.”

Since publishing the expose of the global traveling by the senior Magaziner and Epstein, Treasurer Magaziner’s office has refused to answer press calls or respond to questions about the state's investments or the other issues tied to the Treasurer's public duties.

On December 22, GoLocal emailed the Treasurer's office about a recent change to state retirees' investments, including the decision by the State Investment Commission to invest more heavily in State Street funds. Multiple emails, calls, and texts were not returned. 

 

 

GoLocal was removed from the Treasurer's office press list. 

 

Recent Reporting on Epstein's Exploits

The New York Times reported last week, "New evidence shows Jeffrey Epstein sexually abused and trafficked hundreds of young women and girls on his private Caribbean island, some as recently as 2018, significantly expanding the scope of his alleged conduct, a top law enforcement official said in a lawsuit filed on Wednesday."

"Mr. Epstein, a wealthy financier who died by suicide in a Manhattan jail last year, was bringing girls as young as 11 and 12 to his secluded estate in the Virgin Islands, known as Little Saint James, and kept a computerized database to track the availability and movements of women and girls, the lawsuit said," according to the Times.

The GoLocal review of thousands of documents relating to convicted sexual predator Epstein found close links to the senior Magaziner. He repeatedly flew with Epstein on the convicted sexual predator's personal plane. Epstein had not been convicted at the time of the flights.

The senior Magaziner is a close friend and adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton and presently leads the Clinton Health Access Initiative.

According to flight records, the senior Magaziner flew on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane numerous times. The flight records show that Magaziner flew with Epstein and Clinton in Africa, China, and Hong Kong.

Magaziner has close ties to Clinton. During Clinton’s presidency, Magaziner was Senior Advisor for Policy Development leading the Clintons' effort for a national healthcare policy.

After his White House career, Magaziner chaired the Clinton Climate Initiative and the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS program, with its focus on Africa.

 

 

One set of flights with Epstein was in September of 2002 in Africa that included a landing in Dubai. Besides Magaziner and Clinton, the flight log lists supermodel Naomi Campbell, and actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker.

Flight logs have been released by a series of court orders tied to other litigation involving Epstein and his longtime companion Ghislaine Maxwell.

 

 

On another set of flights in 2003, the senior Magaziner traveled again with Epstein and Clinton in mainland China — to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province and then to Hong Kong.

 

 

The senior Magaziner has repeatedly refused to respond to press questions about his relationship with Epstein -- who committed suicide in August of 2019.

Treasurer Seth Magaziner refused to comment for this article.
