Barrington Warns Families of Threat of Violence at High School, Police Providing Additional Presence

Barrington school officials are warning students, parents, and school community of a threat of violence made at the high school. 

Superintendent Mike Messore said that there will be additional presence of Barrington Police at the school until the winter break.

Messore sent the following Monday afternoon:

"This afternoon, Barrington High School building administration was made aware of a threat written in the girls’ bathroom. 

The Barrington Police Department was contacted immediately and is currently investigating the situation.

All threats are taken seriously. The Barrington Police Department, in conjunction with high school administration, will continue to monitor the situation actively. 

Out of an abundance of caution, the Barrington Police Department will provide an additional presence at BHS until the Winter Recess.

The Barrington Police Department is conducting a full investigation and encourages students and adults to report any information related to this incident. 

The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Please contact the Barrington Police Department or Barrington High School if you have any additional information."
