Aquidneck Island Market to Close

Citing “unsustainable losses,” Newport Restaurant Group’s Foodlove Market announced Monday it is closing. 

The business, located at 1037 Aquidneck Avenue in Middletown, opened in 2021. 

“We’ve made the announcement to close Foodlove Market,” they wrote that the concept of the business was born “early in the pandemic,” when the vision was “to create something new, to meet the moment.”

“Combining grocery store, deli, takeout meals, and restaurant concepts was not something that we had experience in,” they wrote. “Despite the dedication of our employee-owners who worked very hard to make Foodlove a success, and bringing on team members who do have the relevant experience, we have continued to realize unsustainable losses.” 

The last day the market will be open is January 25, says the business.
