Suspect to be Charged With Kidnapping, Sexual Assault in Abduction of 9-Year-Old Girl

The suspect in the abduction of a 9-year-old girl in Providence on Monday will be charged with kidnapping and second-degree sexual assault, according to Providence police.

The suspect -- Luis Martinez-Romero, 34, will appear in court on Wednesday morning.

As GoLocal reported: 

Video of the abduction of a 9-year-old girl on Monday shows the moment the suspect snatched her off the street.

"At approximately 3:00 p.m. [Monday], October 5, 2020, a 9-year-old female was abducted after exiting her school bus and proceeded to walk in the area in the area of Grover and Merino Streets," said police is an alert to the media on Monday. 

According to the police, the suspect responsible is believed to be a 20-40-year-old Hispanic male wearing all black with black hair operating a silver Nissan SUV. 

The victim was later returned to a nearby location and police are actively looking for the subject and vehicle involved related to this incident.
