Brown Fizzles, While Others Increase Conflict

The ending of the Brown protest is in contrast to student actions at Columbia University, in which students have seized Hamilton Hall.

The administration at Columbia has announced it will be expelling students who continue to trespass at Hamilton.

Columbia and Portland State University closed their campuses Tuesday.

According to the New York Times, more than 1,100 protestors across the country have been arrested in recent weeks.

No arrests in Rhode Island are included on the list.

Brown students were arrested in 2023. Then, 21 were arrested in October, and then 41 more were arrested in November.

The University dropped the charges against the first group.
