Caught Sleeping on the Job: Rhode Island Health Professional Reprimanded

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has reprimanded a licensed health professional in the state — for sleeping on the job.

According to RIDOH, on March 1, 2024, Miscauli Bueno - a licensed nursing assistant - was employed by a staffing agency and working “at a nursing facility.

On that date, says RIDOH, “A nurse working at the nursing facility found [Bueno] sitting at a table in the dining/common area, in the dark, with her head on the table, sound asleep, shortly after [Bueno] arrived for her scheduled shift.”

“The nurse tried to wake [Bueno] by calling her name and hitting the table next to her head…and eventually had to shake [Bueno] to wake her up,” RIDOH continued.

RIDOH stated that the “conduct described…constitutes unprofessional conduct pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws,” and issued the reprimand on November 8.
