Cicilline Wins Democratic Nod; Faces Showdown with Loughlin in November

David Cicilline, Mayor of Providence, beat back three competitors to win the Democratic nomination. Cicilline, the endorsed candidate, leveraged his superior warchest, experience and messaging to win in a four-way primary. Cicilline's success and celebration may be short-lived as he faces a credible GOP candidate in John Loughlin in November.

Cicilline captured just 37.2% of the vote.  His sub 50% result and the low-turnout raises questions if this seat can be effectively targeted by the GOP in their effort to capture the US House of Representatives.
