City of Providence Employee in Critical Condition -- Knocked Unconscious Moving Soccer Goal

A City of Providence employee is in critical condition after a soccer goal fell on his head on Tuesday. 

About Incident 

Shortly before 9:30 AM Tuesday morning, police responded to a call for medical aid at Donigan Park on Valley Street in Providence.

A city Parks Department employee told police he was moving soccer goalposts from one truck another along with another employee, when one of the goalposts fell on the other city worker. 

According to police, the injured man — who is in his mid-50s — suffered a laceration to his head and was knocked unconscious. 

Rescue transported the injured individual to Rhode Island Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
