Connecticut State Police Report Deliver Investigative Report on RISP to Manni

Rhode Island State Police Superintendent James Manni, who was sworn in as the State Police’s 14th Superintendent by Governor Gina Raimondo in early March, was faced with a number of allegations and controversies tied to the department. 

As GoLocal first reported, Manni requested an independent review of some of those charges by the Connecticut State Police.

GoLocal has now learned that the Connecticut State Police have completed the investigation and submitted the report to Manni.

Manni has referred the Connecticut investigation to the United States Attorney and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office for review.

When GoLocal first reported the investigation by Connecticut State Police, at least 20 members of the Rhode Island State Police had been interviewed by members of the Connecticut State Police regarding an incident involving at least two high ranking members of the State Police, GoLocal learned from top law enforcement officials.

The interviews took place over a number of weeks, according to multiple members of the Rhode Island State Police.

A number of issues have emerged regarding the State Police, including allegations made by State Troopers now on the job and some who have left the force.
