EDITORIAL: Time for Leadership, Governor Raimondo

"The FBI is releasing a summary of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s July 2, 2016 interview with the FBI concerning allegations that classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on a personal email server she used during her tenure,” said the agency.
The move came after an extensive review by the FBI, which found that there were no grounds for prosecution.

We are making these materials available to the public in the interest of transparency and in response to numerous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests,” wrote the FBI in their release.
Time for Raimondo to Follow Suit
It is time for Governor Gina Raimondo to demonstrate leadership and to instruct Colonel Steven O’Donnell to release the same for those interviewed in the 38 Studios criminal investigation. The Governor has voiced support for the release of the documents and more than thirty elected officials and civic organizations have called for the release of the documents.
We all know that the four-year investigation is now completed, inactive, and resulted in no prosecutions. The Governor has repeatedly complained the Rhode Islanders are too negative and that may be true.
The negativism has been rooted in part in the events of 38 Studios — an event in which the highest elected officials worked secretly to create a funding scheme to provide $75 million to a company that was economically flawed.
The Governor can make a strong statement about transparency. With the decision by the FBI to release documents relating to the Democratic Presidential nominee, there is no reasonable excuse as to why Governor Raimondo cannot, and should not, demand the release of the 38 Studios interview materials and notes.
It is time to lead.
