Elorza to Unveil Woonasquatucket Vision Plan

Providence mayor Jorge Elorza is set to unveil his Woonasquatucket Vision Plan.

Elorza will unveil the plan during a press conference on Thursday, October 25 at 2 p.m. at Woonasquatucket River Greenway Pocket Park.

Elorza will be joined in the press conference by Congressman Jim Langevin, Department of Planning and Development Director Bonnie Nickerson, Department of Arts, Culture + Tourism Director Stephanie Fortunato, representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council Director of Projects Lisa Aurecchia and community members.

The Plan

The plan is a proposed vision for the rehabilitation of 560 acres along the Woonasquatucket River Corridor, extending from the Providence Place Mall to Olneyville Square, that will “transform the area into a vibrant, mixed-use district using a combination of City initiatives and private investment.”
