Now, the Palestinian flag is located directly next to the City Council President’s dais.
GoLocal reached out to Providence Mayor Brett Smiley about the Palestinian flag. Josh Estrella, a spokesman for Smiley, said, "City Council is better positioned to answer why the flag is flying within their chamber, which is under their purview, and who purchased the flag."
Smiley recently returned from a trip to Israel, paid for by the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island.
GoLocal also contacted City Council President Rachel Miller about adding the Palestinian Flag to the Council Chamber. At the time of publication, her office had not responded.
