Family Service of Rhode Island is asking for help providing items to help low-income children, families, and seniors it serves be safe from coronavirus.

“We work in schools and communities across Rhode Island, and in recent weeks so many families have asked how they can get help to buy the products recommended to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, head of Family Service of Rhode Island.

Family Service of Rhode Island is asking the community to text BESAFE to 44321 or click the link below to help provide “Be Safe Kits” to Rhode Islanders in need.

Be Safe Kits

The Centers for Disease Control has directed that two fundamental steps can make an important difference: 1. Frequent hand washing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water; if not available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer may be used. 2. Cleaning of “high touch” surfaces every day.

Be Safe Kits will include, as available, antibacterial soap, disinfecting wipes, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and other items in a reusable bag so students, seniors and others in need can easily carry them home from their school or one of Family Service of Rhode Island locations.

All products Family Service of Rhode Island will purchase will follow the specifications of the Centers for Disease Control and the Rhode Island Department of Health.
