About Incident

Shortly before 2 AM Saturday morning, Providence police officers responded to a dormitory hall at PC for a report of an assault.

The victim -- an 18-year-old female student-- told police she was in her dorm room when two unknown individuals came into her dorm room and began to record the parties in the room on a cell phone.

According to police, the victim said one of her friends went to take the suspect’s phone away, at which time the suspect struck the victim in the face with the phone before fleeing the scene.

The victim told police the suspect was a “black male in his early 20s.”

Police questioned the other subject still on the scene — who was issued a no-trespass order and released.

Detectives are currently investigating.

"PC Public Safety, along with Providence Police are investigating the incident.  The individual who was struck by the cell phone is OK and has received resources and support from the College. An email has been sent to all students regarding the event," said PC VP for Public Affairs Steven Maurano.
