Former Warwick Attorney Mitchell Charged With Embezzling $1.2 Million from Clients

A former Warwick attorney has been charged with embezzling her $1.2 million from clients by the Rhode Island State Police.

Vincent J. Mitchell, 57, of 36 Mapledale St., Unit B, Coventry Rhode Island, was arrested on Monday on an Affidavit/Arrest Warrant charging him with 10 counts of Embezzlement and Fraudulent Conversion over $100. 

Mitchell, whose law practice in Warwick had centered on estate planning and long-term healthcare planning, was summarily disbarred.

Mitchell was arraigned at the Sixth Division District Court on April 23, 2018, and was released on $100,000 personal recognizance.

The Investigation

The investigation was the result of a voluntary admission Mitchell made to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Disciplinary Counsel last August, saying he had taken $1,207,233 from 10 clients for unauthorized personal use.
