Fung, Palombo, City of Cranston and Others Sued for Civil Rights Violation in Federal Court
A suit by former Cranston Police Captain Todd Patalano against Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, the City of Cranston former Police Chief Marco Palombo and other Cranston city officials was filed today in U.S. District Court.
The suit alleges that the Cranston Mayor, the City and other defendants violated Patalano's civil rights under the 14th Amendment - Substantive Due Process.
The suit claims the "defendant acted intentionally, willfully, maliciously, recklessly and egregiously with deliberate indifference to Patalano's clearly established constitutionally protected rights."
In a phone interview with GoLocalProv, Patalano's attorney Joseph Penza acknowledged the suit had been filed in federal court on Tuesday.
When asked for further comment, Penza said, "I generally don't comment on cases pending before court -- I know a lot of lawyers will, but that's not what I do," said Penza.
