Inmate Serving Life Sentence Attacks Correctional Officer
Rhode Island prison officials unveil that a serious incident took place at the High-Security facility on Sunday.
“This morning, an inmate assaulted a Correctional Officer at the High Security facility. Thanks to his training, the officer was able to restrain the inmate until other staff arrived providing back-up. The inmate was identified as David Catalano who is serving a life sentence along with other consecutive sentences,” said J.R. Ventura, spokesperson for the RI Department of Corrections.

The matter is currently under investigation by the State Police. All other staff and inmates inside the facility are safe. Please refer to the State Police for further questions,” added Ventura.
