UPDATED: DePetro Pulled From the Air at WPRO, Officials Claim It Was Tied to a Pre-Scheduled Meeting

Removed from air today
Controversial talk show host John DePetro was pulled from the air Friday morning in mid-broadcast after discussing issues relating to the Cranston House race for Speaker Nick Mattiello as well as the For Our Daughters boycott. Now, officals at Cumulus claim that the unusal programming was due to a meeting.

However, it was when DePetro went to play a clip from the Dan Yorke show that the air went dead -- and the station played the taped interview from last week between DePetro and Curt Schilling for over an hour.

Efforts to reach management at WPRO were unsuccessful.

Questions About Time Out

DePetro returned to the airwaves shortly after 11 a.m. -- claiming there was a "planned meeting" at the station during the time he was off.

Prior to the interruption, DePetro failed to mention that he would be going off the air, however.

Sources say the continued friction between Yorke and DePetro was behind DePetro being pulled, for trying to play a clip from Yorke's show.

The DePetro removal is the most recent in a series of controversies tied to DePetro over the past decade. SEE TALK RADIO CONTROVERSIES BELOW

DePetro refused comment on the situation.
