SUV With Juveniles Strikes Providence Police Cruiser, Multiple Vehicles While Evading Traffic Stop

Shortly before 3 PM on Tuesday, police said that as two patrolmen were conducting a routine patrol assignment off of Chalkstone Avenue, they saw a white SUV operating at a high rate of speed.

One patrolman was exiting his vehicle when he said the SUV began operating at a high rate of speed in reverse toward him.
The officer reportedly jumped back in his vehicle just before the SUV struck his door.
The SUV then fled the scene, at which time police said they pursued the vehicle in a “slow-speed’ pursuit, which ended when the SUV pulled into a parking lot on Sutton Street and collided with a parked vehicle.
According to police, four subjects fled from the vehicle. Three of the four were apprehend, one male juvenile and two female juveniles.
Police said the SUV struck other vehicles during the course of the pursuit.
The juveniles were remanded to the training school.
