Lincoln School 6th Grader Wins RI Independent School Spelling Bee

Amiya Mandapati, a sixth grader at Lincoln School has won the 2014 Rhode Island Independent School Spelling Bee.

Mandapati will now head to the RI State Spelling Bee on March 8th at Lincoln Middle School after her Monday morning victory.

Lincoln School hosted several contestants on Monday from Rocky Hill, Hoyden Academy, Wheeler, St. Michael's, Pennfield, and the Islamic School of RI.

“The pressure was on!" said the spelling bee's pronouncer Charles Cofone. "All of the contestants rose to the challenge while their parents and teachers looked on with admiration.”
