Police said they were called to Pine Street - off of Broad Street in South Providence - shortly before 2 AM Tuesday morning.

Officers said they met with the tow truck driver, who had arrived at the location to tow a vehicle, when a man in another vehicle pulled into the driveway and proceeded to block him in.

The victim told police the driver of the other vehicle - later identified as Xavier Reyes, age 39 -  exited his car with a baseball bat in his hand and proceeded to argue with the victim and then physically push him.

At that time, the victim said he feared for his safety and pulled out a pocket knife to defend himself.

The victim said that Reyes then went into the house - and came out with what appeared to be a gun.

Police reportedly arrived at this time, and Reyes went back into the residence.

Officers apprehended Reyes; they said that a gun was not located at the scene; police said they did find a baseball bat which was taken into evidence.

Reyes is facing assault and disorderly conduct charges.
