About Incident
Shortly after 11 PM on Friday night, police responded to the restaurant El Caribeno on Academy Avenue for a report of an assault.
Police say the encountered witnesses helping a woman — a bartender at the restaurant — with a cut to the face, who said they had witnessed a man hit her in the face with a bottle.
Witnesses described the suspect as having a distinctive tattoo that said “Jenny” on his arm, and that he fled the scene.
The victim was taken by rescue to Roger Williams Hospital for treatment.
Police said they then got a call from an unrelated party on Pemberton Street a short while later that a man was passed out on a house porch.
When police arrived, they said they encountered a man with “Jenny” tattooed on his arm.
The suspect, later identified as David Garcia, age 33, was arrested at the scene.
