Man Stabbed in Neck With Broken Bottle in Providence - Suspect in Custody

A man was stabbed in the neck in Providence — with a broken bottle, following a fight with another man.

About Incident

Shortly before 6:30 PM on Sunday, police responded to 1025 Eddy Street for a report of a stabbing.

Police said they met with the victim — a male in his 30s — who had a stab wound to his neck. 

The victim’s girlfriend told police the couple had been sitting on the sidewalk of Eddy Street and Thurbers Avenue when a male suspect approached them; a fight ensued between the men over a cigarette.

The suspect reportedly used a broken beer bottle to stab the victim in multiple locations.

The victim was taken to the hospital. 

Based on the description of the suspect, police were able to search the area and locate and arrest Stephon Bellamy, age 21. 

He was taken to Central Station.
