The biggest political issue is replacing the current corrupt, reactionary, so-called leadership in the General Assembly with progressive candidates.

The biggest political challenge in Rhode Island is getting young people, poor people, and people of color to engage in politics at all levels of government.

2. What do we need to do to improve Rhode Island's economy?

* Rhode Island must raise the minimum wage to $15.

* Rhode Island must implement single-payer universal health insurance for all residents.

* Rhode Island must increase spending for adult education by 200% (Yes, 200%).

* These three measures more than any others, will jump-start the RI and District 11 economies, re-vitalize our neighborhoods, and build the middle-class.

3. What is the greatest challenge facing Rhode Island as a state?

Income inequality/ lack of a living wage is the great social problem.  From this all other issues,  housing, health, crime, education, the economy  and natural environment  of the state, flow and feedback making the original problem of poverty worse and worse.

4. Why are you running for office?

I’m running for office to make the following things happen. I’ve mentioned three above. Here are the rest.

* Rhode Island must re-instate the Historic Home Tax Credit for individual home owners.

* Rhode Island must make Brown University, other colleges, and LifeSpan pay property taxes of 100% valuation and also pay the full amount of state corporate income taxes.

* Rhode Island must eliminate tax breaks for the wealthy.  The state income tax rate for the rich (over $400,000 per year) must be 25%.

* Rhode Island cities and towns must have the right to require residency for all newly hired police officers, teachers, firefighters, and other municipal workers.

* Rhode Island must legalize marijuana use and sales.

* There must be a state-wide Public Library Repair Bond act on the 2018 ballot.

*  Rhode Island government must take its money out of the big banks such as Citizens, Bank of America, Wells-Fargo and place it with local institutions.

5. Who is your inspiration?

I have quite a few!   William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick Douglass, Mark Twain, The 54th Massachusetts, Eleanor Roosevelt, the Tuskegee Airmen, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, the 1969 N.Y. Mets.  I stand on the shoulders of giants.
