Missing Brown University Student Found Dead

A student at Brown University reported missing by his roommate over the weekend was found dead.

According to a post on social media, Jeff Schlyer had not been heard from since Saturday January 7. 

“HI Neighbors, I’m a senior at Brown University and my roommate Jeff has gone missing Providence since the late night of Friday January 6th,” wrote his roommate in a post. “He was heard from at around 2 AM on Saturday (Jan 7th) morning and is believed to have been on a bike ride.”

According to the post, the last known location of Schlyer was at Massasoit and Sutton Avenues in East Providence. 

Providence Police confirmed with GoLocal that following a search by multiple law enforcement agencies, Schlyer was found deceased on the East Providence bike path later on Saturday. 

Schlyer's LinkedIn profile shows he was studying math at Brown, and had attended New Milford High School in Connecticut. 

Police are not releasing cause of death at this time.
