NEW: 23 New RI Coronavirus Fatalities, Total Now 579: Watch 1 PM Briefing LIVE

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced 23 new COVID-19 fatalities in the state on Friday, bringing the total to 579.

RIDOH also reported 170 new positive cases for 13,736 now in total.

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo is expected to roll out details of phase two of reopening the economy at her press briefing on Friday.

Currently, there are 242 hospitalizations, with 56 in the ICU and 40 on ventilators.
