NEW: Coronavirus Hospitalizations in RI Rise — Former Director of Health Voices Concerns

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced on Monday that the three day average of COVID-19 hospitalizations has risen to 71. 

The state last saw that average on June 30. After weeks in July of the hospitalization average falling, it has risen steadily since July 8, when the average was 60. 

At its peak, Rhode Island saw over 300 hospitalizations a day in April.

On Monday, on GoLocal LIVE, former Rhode Island Director of Health Dr. Michael Fine said he there are early indications that the while the numbers for still low, the number of hospitalizations need to be watched.

Cases in the state continue to rise, with 102 new cases reported on July 24, and 93 new cases reported on July 25.

The most recently daily number of tests conducted in Rhode Island was just 2,763.

Rhode Island reported daily new case counts as low as 18 on June 28.
