Leary put together the foundation in 2000 in response to the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse Fire.
The foundation is dedicated to providing fire departments with funding and resources for up-to-date equipment and training.
Through events like Celebrity Hat Trick with the Boston Bruins, the Annual BASH for New York's Bravest with the FDNY, and the 2009 NYC Marathon, the Foundation has been able to provide nearly $2 million to the families of the 343 firefighters that perished on 9/11, another $500,000 to the Boston Fire Department for new equipment including a Tactical Command Unit and Fire Rescue/Diver Support Boat for Boston Harbor, and multiple High-Rise Simulators for the FDNY Fire Academy.
