The headmasters and headmistresses of the top boarding schools in New England receive total compensation packages that are often greater than the compensation received by top college presidents.

More than 25 heads of schools in the region earn enough to qualify as a member of America's infamous 1%. The heads of these exclusive boarding schools, which are all not for profit, make an average of $421,000 in total compensation per annum.
