NEW: Myrus Named Acting U.S. Attorney for RI

Richard Myrus has been named Acting United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island.

Myrus succeeds U.S. Attorney Stephen Dambruch, who stepped down on Wednesday after being appointed Criminal Division Chief of the Rhode Island Department of the Attorney General. 

Myrus will serve as the chief Federal law enforcement officer for Rhode Island.

He announced that the leadership team in the United States Attorney’s Office will remain the same.

About Myrus

Appointed an Assistant United States Attorney in May 2007, Myrus served as a civil litigator in the Office’s Civil Division and then as a prosecutor in the Criminal Division.

He was named Civil Division Chief in February 2014 and First Assistant United States Attorney in January 2018.

Prior to his appointment as an Assistant United States Attorney, Myrus specialized in patent infringement litigation and earlier served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

A 1984 graduate of Columbia University, Myrus received a Master's degree in 1992 from the University of California, San Diego, and earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1995.
