Nursing Home Worker Charged with Sexual Assault, RIDOH Suspends License

Warren police have charged Erick Sajche Meza with second-degree sexual assault, and subsequently, the Rhode Island Department of Health suspended his license as a nursing assistant.

 

According to state records, “On or about July 3, 2024, and July 4, 2024, he was employed as a nursing assistant at a health care facility in Rhode Island.”

And, “on the morning of July 4, 2024, a female resident of the health care facility reported that Respondent had come into her room and engaged in sexual contact with her and continued to do so after she told him to stop.”

 

Warren police arrested him on July 15 and charged him with second-degree sexual assault on the resident described in violation of R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-37-4.

 

According to state law, “a person is guilty of a second-degree sexual assault if he or she engages in sexual contact with another person and if any of the following circumstances exist: (1) The accused knows or has reason to know that the victim is mentally incapacitated, mentally disabled, or physically helpless.”

 

He received bail: a Bond Setting Surety of $10,000.00 (he has to pay 10% or $1,000.00)

The bail conditions included:

- Non-Domestic No Contact Order
- Pretrial Services to Monitor

 

He is the seventh nursing assistant to be disciplined by the RIDOH in the past two months.
