NEW: Occupy Movement Comes to RI's East Bay

A look at Occupy movements locally and far-flung, coming to East Bay.
The worldwide Occupy Movement is coming to the East Bay this Tuesday, February 21st. Panelists from Occupy Providence and other Occupy groups will discuss their participation in the Occupy movement, how it’s been growing, and how others can join at Rogers Free Library in Bristol from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The discussion is being held due to substantial interest of the East Bay in setting up a local Occupy movement group.

“We believe that a better future will not come from those who have been bailed out, who gained billions as millions lost jobs, who are accustomed to great influence. Instead it comes from us, the 99% who don’t have much of a voice in the current system,” The Occupy movement said. “We face a future with many problems that are ignored by the powerful few. But we believe that by working together in our movement without letting a few people grab power, we can grow, learn from each other, and encourage better solutions.”

Inspired by democratic movements across the world, Occupy has spread from Wall Street to hundreds of other sites around the country and world. Each Occupy site is self-run, and shares a commitment to making change through free speech, free assembly, and encouraging everyone to have a fair and equal voice within our assemblies. Tuesday, February 21, 6pm-8pm.Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St., Bristol. Admission is free and open to the public.
