NEW: One RI Nursing Home Has 6 Positive Coronavirus Cases

"Oak Hill Center in Pawtucket has confirmed six cases of COVID-19 and they are all residents of the facility. Upon feeling sick, each resident was immediately placed into isolation at the facility. Each was tested with swabs by the department of health and the medical director at the facility confirming they each had the virus,” said Jeffrey Jacomowitz, Director of Corporate Communications for Centers Health Care —the parent company to the Pawtucket facility.
“Working hard to keep to people safe, Oak Hill Center continues to work closely with the Rhode Island Department of Health and the CDC during this pandemic. The safety of our residents and staff are first and foremost our number one priority,” adds Jacomowitz.

According to the company, with the six confirmed residents, 27 residents on that unit were placed into protective isolation in order to minimize the risk of spread.
Less than ten nurses were identified to have worked with these residents, however, all our nurses have been wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) since early March, as instructed by the Rhode Island Department of Health per CDC guidelines so the risk of exposure is minimal. Oak Hill Center continues to follow the State and Federal guidelines with PPE use and all staff are being screened and continuously monitored for symptoms throughout the day, said the company.
