The following email was sent to staff at Women and Infants on Monday by CNE President James Fanale, MD.

To All Staff at Women & Infants Hospital:

I am writing to inform you that Rick Majzun, president and COO of Women & Infants Hospital, is resigning his role here to pursue other professional opportunities. I would like to thank Rick for his efforts since arriving last fall and appreciate his support, energy, and enthusiasm for the important work taking place both at Women & Infants and across Care New England. His decision is effective immediately. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

Matt Quin, RN, MSN, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, Women & Infants Hospital, will assume the role of interim chief operating officer at this time.

I know you are all familiar with Matt who has served in his current position since 2015 and previously served as vice president for nursing operations from August 2013. Before coming to Women & Infants, Matt held various leadership roles at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, most notably as director of the Surgical, Burn, and Trauma Intensive/Intermediate Care Unit. He received his master of science, healthcare administration, from Simmons College in Boston and his bachelor of science in nursing from Saint Anselm College, Manchester, NH. Please join me in congratulating Matt.

I anticipate commencing a search for a new president/COO within the next few months.

About Majzun

Majzun had been named President and Chief Operating Officer of Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, a Care New England hospital, effective July 23, 2018.

Majzun came to Women & Infants from Barnes Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

The appointment of Majzun followed a year-long national search during which the search committee, led by Care New England Senior Vice President of Planning and Finance Gail Robbins, engaged physicians, staff, and management.
