The vehicle operator told police he was in the breakdown lane on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of Broad Street, when he began entering the travel lane and was hit from behind by the CRV — determined to be driven by Castillo — and then sideswiped before Castillo left the scene.
Police observed damage to the rear of the vehicle as well as the front driver’s side door; the operator and two passengers did not report injures at the time of the collision.
Councilwoman Turns Herself In
On Tuesday, Castillo turned herself in for the hit-and-run.
Castillo had reportedly gone to the hospital following the collision.
“She was injured; her airbags were deployed,” said Castillo’s attorney Artin Coloian.
According to Coloian, Castillo was given a “desk ticket,” and will face a future court date.
