NEW: Providence Place Mall Fall Victim Identified

The Providence Police Department has identified the woman who fell from the first floor of the Providence Place Mall parking garage just after 7 p.m. on July 16 as Trudy Oxx. Oxx was from Westerly and was 35 years old.

Oxx fell to her death while being chased by mall security after taking clothes off the racks at Nordstrom and returning them for $800. She was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

Oxx had a prior criminal record that included fraud and drug charges.

The investigation is still on going and Nordstrom's is cooperating fully with the police.
