Providence Student Arrested After Police Officer and School Officials Assaulted

A student at a Providence school has been arrested for assault, GoLocal has learned.

At approximately noontime on Tuesday, police were called to Mt. Pleasant High School for a report of the assault. 

The juvenile suspect reportedly assaulted multiple school officials, as well as the school resource officer.

Detectives are currently investigating.

As GoLocal was first to report on October 12: 

A juvenile has been charged after bringing a loaded gun to a school in Providence.

GoLocal has learned that the incident occurred on Wednesday at Del Sesto Middle School in Providence, which is located off of Hartford Avenue. 

According to police, a teacher searched a student’s “suspicious-looking backpack” — and found a gun with an extended magazine and bullets.
