RI Nursing Assistant Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Patient — Dept. of Health Suspends License

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has suspended the license of a nursing assistant, who was arrested in August for sexually assaulting a patient. 

According to RIDOH on August 8, 2023, Mohamed Diop was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault upon a patient his care while employed at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center in Woonsocket. 

Diop was held at the ACI from August 9, 2023 to September 11, 2023, when he was released on home confinement.

“Individuals released on home confinement are permitted to leave the home for the purpose of going to work,” states RIDOH. “Should [Diop] return to work as a nursing assistant, the health, safety, and welfare of patients in his care may be threatened.”

RIDOH said that it was required to take emergency action with the summary suspension. 

According to court records, Diop is due back in court for a pretrial conference on September 28.
