26 New RI Coronavirus Deaths, Highest One-Day Total, As Economy Reopens: Watch 1 PM Briefing

The Rhode Island Department of Health on Tuesday reported 26 new COVID-19 related deaths — the highest one-day total since the state’s first case in March.

The death total now climbs to 532 fatalities, with 247 people currently in the hospital, 59 currently in the ICU, and 44 on ventilators.

There were 134 new positive cases for 12,951 now in total. 

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced she was lifting the stay at home order on May 8; Raimondo allowed restaurants to open for outdoor dining this week and has announced select beaches can reopen — as well as places of worship — in the coming weeks.
