NEW: RI State Police Identify Victim in Fatal I-95 Accident

The Rhode Island State Police have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian crash the took place Interstate 95 early Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Alfonso Rodriguez, 53, of Providence.

The Investigation

According to the State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that he was struck by oncoming traffic in the northbound travel lanes on Interstate 95 near Exit 23 in Providence.

As GoLocalProv reported, all three lanes of traffic were re-opened shortly after 7 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
