On December, 8 of 2014 The Chronicale of Higher Education released data regarding the highest paid college Presidents in each state, as of 2012. 

Compensation data was compiled from the internal revenue services form 990, which most nonprofits entities file.

So how much do Presidents of private colleges in Rhode Island make? You might be surprised to find out the answer. The Chronicle of Higher Education released a far-reaching analysis of the total compensation for college leaders nationwide. The analysis from CHE combines base pay, bonus pay, deferred compensation, nontaxable benefits and other pay.

Who tops the list of highest paid private college presidents nationally? The answer, is Shirley Ann Jackson of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Jackson makes $7,143,312 with a base pay of $945,000.
