A man has died after being struck crossing a street on Providence’s East Side on Thursday evening.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit at Doyle Avenue and Camp Street shortly after 5 PM on Thursday.

The victim — a male in 70s — was reportedly crossing Camp on Doyle when he was hit.

He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The driver remained at the scene for questioning by police.

On Friday, police confirmed he passed away.
