Pension Lawsuit: Read the Final Settlement Offer

The potential pension settlement proposed by the state will be voted on this week by members of the National Education Association of Rhode Island.

The document below is the final offer from the state of Rhode Island.

If the vote to accept the deal passes, Judge Sarah Taft-Carter has final approval and the legislature would be directed to pass it into law. If the vote does not pass, then the trial would proceed on April 20 and pensioners would remain under the changes passed in 2012, not the proposed settlement from last year.

Judge Taft-Carter has issued a gag order preventing parties involved with the lawsuit from discussing the potential settlement with the media. GoLocalProv obtained a copy of the proposed settlement and it can be viewed below.
