President Biden Tests Positive for COVID

The White House said Thursday morning that President Joe Biden, 79, has “very mild symptoms” of COVID. He has begun taking Paxlovid. He will isolate at the White House and continue to “carry out all of his duties fully during that time.”

On Wednesday, Biden visited southern New England. "President Biden gave remarks at Brayton Point in Massachusetts, a former coal-fired power plant site that will soon manufacture offshore wind cables, announcing his latest executive actions to secure a clean energy future and combat the emergency of climate change," tweeted the White House.

Biden was last tested negative on Tuesday, according to the White House, has been in touch with members of the White House staff and will participate in his meetings by phone and Zoom from the residence. He will work in isolation until he tests negative.

The White House said press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would brief reporters later in the day and would be joined by Dr. Ashish Jha, the administration’s COVID response coordinator. He is the former Dean of Brown University's School of Public Health.
