Providence Police Officer, Firefighter Injured Responding to East Side Incident

A Providence police officer and Providence firefighter were injured on Wednesday responding to a disturbance on the East Side of Providence. 

About Incident

Shortly before 10 AM, police were called to the area of Bank of America and Seven Stars Bakery on Hope Street for a report of an individual acting erratically.

Witnesses told police a female had been yelling profanities and exposing herself to customers inside Seven Stars, before moving across the street to the Bank of America ATM where she engaged in similar behavior. 

When police arrived, the woman reportedly began to threaten officers and rescue was requested. 

According to police, the woman bit an officer through his glove, puncturing his skin. 

The officer was later treated at Roger Williams Hospital and released. 

When the woman was transported in a rescue, she reportedly bit and kicked a Providence Fire Lieutenant.

The woman is being treated at this time.
