Providence Ranked as One of U.S.’ Most Diverse Communities, Warwick Among Least

Providence is among the biggest melting pots in America and, in contrast, Rhode Island's second largest city, Warwick, in among the least diverse.

By 2020, the total minority population will have grown to 40.7 percent from 30.9 percent in 2000. 

Providence ranks as the #16th most diverse communities in America. Warwick is among the least diverse -- ranking #309.

Pawtucket ranks tied for #48th.

Cranston ranks #240th.

"But change isn’t confined to the next four years. By its estimates, the U.S. Census Bureau projects that no single ethnic group will comprise the majority in the U.S. for the first time in 2044.

Nearly 7 percent of the U.S. adult population claiming to be multiracial today, the personal finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2015’s Cities with the Most & Least Ethno-Racially Diverse Cities," says WalletHub.

WalletHub analysts compared 313 of the most populated U.S. cities across three key metrics, including racial and ethnic diversity, language diversity and U.S. region of birth diversity.
